Ancient History
The Grox development team was originally formed in April 2003, under the auspices
of building a comprehensive entertainment platform for HomeScreen Entertainment Pty,
an Australian startup company offering online DVD rental. The director of Grox,
Stephen Steneker, was also co-founder and CTO of HomeScreen. For the 5 1/2 years
prior to co-founding HomeScreen, Stephen was the Technical Operations Manager and
senior engineer for Yahoo! Australia & NZ.
At HomeScreen we designed and delivered an integrated suite of internet/intranet
applications including: a personalised front end web site for customers; backend
inventory tracking, allocation, and forecasting; a permission-based management
system for product information and content feeds; a product recommendation and
merchandising engine; billing system and customer service/account tools;
comprehensive KPIs for finance, marketing, and other business metrics.
In 2005 the HomeScreen business was sold to Perth-based competitor Quickflix.
Based on their strong working relationship and common interests, the former
HomeScreen development team officially joined Grox and embarked on the
next stage of our adventure.
